GOVERNORS is a study in which the balance of sound is observed based on experimenting with acoustic feedback signals and the forces of movement, material and space acting on them. Raphael Malfliet and Maarten Buyl try to understand the unpredictability of these forces and their influence and refrain from wanting to control them in order to preserve the natural balance of the sound. Through an individual and collective listening practice, answers are sought to collectively guide the sound through a usually avoided medium such as feedback.

During this residency, Maarten and Raphael continue to build an interactive listening installation and try to incorporate their duo performance, in which they generate feedback tones with bass guitars.
