This time the Klankenbos Nocturne by Musica takes place in the twilight zone. Between the visible and the invisible. Between day and night. Like a web between natural and unnatural.

Between 7:30 PM and 9:30 PM, let the STEM gang of WICO Juniorcampus, Marta Zapparoli and Floris Vanhoof, take you on a surprising and challenging experience in Het Klankenbos.

Marta Zapparoli – Interdimensional Generated Space (worldpremière)

“Interdimensional Generated Space” is a piece focused on the Northern Lights phenomenon. The performance uses a homemade “Specter Radio” – not just a crystal radio, a device that makes sounds that respond to electromagnetic fields and different types and intensities of light generated. In this case, the use of light is specifically controlled to simulate a technological version of the Northern Lights in space. Visible and invisible processes in a restrained form.

“Interdimensional” refers specifically to the movement of energy between different modes of perception. The piece makes full use of the contrasts of the invisible processes, to create a new experience of space, time and human scale.

During the performance, a unique sonic dialogue is created between the “natural” and the “technological” world, a reflection on nature that is imitated by technology and refers to everything that is of human origin.

Floris Vanhoof – Soap Bubbles

Experience a fascinating combination of light and sound as soap bubbles burst and laser light waves bounce back. See how intricate patterns form on the surface of the bubble as photons move through the microscopic movements of the liquid to create diffraction and glissandi. Discover which new perspectives come to life when one medium translates into another.
