Maas Lab

The Maas Lab is a multi-year collaboration between TAAT, SoAP, and the Maas River, in which we develop work in collaboration with—not for—the river. We explore caring for each other, how we can view partners separately from what is human or other-than-human, and how we further integrate this into our organization. It proves inspiring to be able to think more broadly, using a language we don’t yet know, a language we must learn together. Decision-making, developing ideas, and reflecting on how we communicate occur as much as possible, particularly at key moments near and with the river. This has a direct impact on the pace and production effort. We will spend considerable time in a process of getting to know each other: what/who is the Maas, and who are we in relation to it? How do we understand it as an entity and/or as an ecosystem? How do we connect with it?
