Young Brides
Alec De Bruyn
Description
Young Brides moves between jazz, soundscape and rock in a narrative video installation with changing scenography.
The music was composed by Alec De Bruyn for a theater piece and performed live behind a mesh of projections. The experience as a hidden player led to a new investigation: what is so intriguing about a hidden musician? At the same time, what are the shortcomings of visuals at a concert? Can we use theatrical techniques, such as scenographic changes, for a more active experience? The whole is now being reworked with musicians Menno Buggenhout, Loesje Maieu and Reindert Swaegers, with changing scenographic elements by Amber De Saeger and projections of video work by Mario Leko in collaboration with visual artists Imge and Sine Özbilge. As a group of diverse makers in various disciplines, we work towards a dynamic whole, where all aspects interact.
