Titans
Myriam Van Imschoot
Description
Titans continues the mythopoetic journey that the YouYou Group began with Hamel (2024). The performance explores how myths process the questions, fascinations, and fears of our time and transform them into vibrant narratives that connect different worlds.
Based on the concept of sonic fiction, Titans transforms monumental spaces through collective voice. The work raises the question of how individual and collective forces can merge, how a voice can become a titan.
For the first time, the YouYou Group is collaborating structurally with Glossa, an avant-garde vocal ensemble from Cologne. Glossa also draws inspiration from mythology, based on the idea that Ariadne’s thread was voices guiding the chaos of a city or landscape. This results in site-specific scores.
Together, they form a cast of more than twenty performers who experiment with sound, movement, and collaborative creation. Sound and textiles are also used as sculptural gestures in this performance.
The premiere will take place in the context of the opening of the new Musée Kanal–Centre Pompidou and will be on display for three days.
