Art/Earth: Jöklaminni

Kevin Trappeniers

Description

Kevin Trappeniers creates work that balances between presence and absence, between nature and human intervention. With his current project Art/Earth: Jöklaminni he investigates how art can resonate with the ecological and existential questions of our time. Based on field research, meetings with scientists and local communities, he translates climate change into a poetic, spatial experience. He connects the traces of disappearing ice from the glaciers in Iceland to droughts and floods in Belgium and the Netherlands. His installations and performances function as rituals of perception: moments in which the audience looks and listens to the slow breath of the earth, to hopefully yet critically question reflection and change.
