Biography
Karolien Verlinden is a choreographer and teacher. She previously studied dance and choreography (2001-2005) at CODARTS Rotterdam Dance Academy. Together with Wannes Deneer and Jef Van Gestel, she formed the collective Tuning People (2005-2023). In addition to her work with Tuning People, she created works for Meekers – Uitgesproken Dans, fABULEUS, Theater de Spiegel, Dschungel Wien, and hetpaleis.
She also teaches kinesiology, viewpoints, and artistic research at the Maastricht Academy of Performing Arts.

After her enchanting performances FeL and FRAMED, choreographer Karolien Verlinden returns with a new, rhythmic project. In Re-Turn, she lets rhythms collide, merge, and shift in a lively conversation between dance, sound, and space.
A flamenco dancer with Spanish roots and a stepper with African-American roots appear before you. Together with an electronic musician, they transform rhythm into movement, sound, and silence. Re-Turn is a vibrant encounter between cultures and styles, in which the rhythm never stands still: it stops, turns, changes, accelerates, and slows down, but it never becomes predictable.
