Biography
Zonzo Compagnie also creates performances that take music as their starting point in a special way. The music production house enchants young (and not so young) audiences with intriguing portraits of composers such as John Cage, Miles Davis, J.S. Bach, Luciano Berio, Henry Purcell, Thelonious Monk and Maurice Ravel, where a multimedia setup is the standard.
More recently, there has also been a particularly active focus on sound art for a young audience. Muzieklabyrinth, in which a cultural centre is converted into a musical maze, has been a permanent fixture for several years. For several years now, Zonzo Compagnie has also successfully developed its own installations that can inspire a young audience.

Brace yourself, straighten your head, clear your throat. Because it’s time. Time for a festive revolution, time for FEST!
Almost a hundred years ago, Spanish teacher José Antonio Emmanuel published the manifesto ‘Anarchy Explained to Children’. He wrote: “Life must be what it must be: a free expression of capacities, spontaneity of actions, an ultimate freedom that breaks down the causes that hinder this society, based on the greatest freedom and the most absolute independence.” And that is exactly what singer Junior Akwety, sound artist Jochem Baelus and clarinetist Lotte Vanhamel do: they place their fate in the hands of the young audience and call for revolution.
FEST will be a bomb of musical anarchy. The musicians transform from ritual percussion to enchanting voices and vice versa. Distorted sounds become sonic explosions. They are inspired by songs from Junior’s native Congo and let hints of rumba, banto electronics, deep house, hip hop and rap be heard. Together with the audience they create a new world: uninhibited, free and spontaneous.
Get ready for a musical party and a revolution for children: a revolution that radiates positive energy. FEST appeals to contemporary dance culture: a gathering that may contain something illegal somewhere, but above all leaves a lasting impression on everyone who was there. Including you. Brace yourself for this ode to the experiment, this courageous fist against the current.
