Biography
FADAT is a performance collective consisting of Dutch-Iranian brother and sister Manuel Groothuysen and Diane Mahín. After theoretical studies in social sciences and humanities, the duo started working together during their studies at the Maastricht Academy of Dramatic Arts. They find each other in their existential and absurdist views on reality and how humans are subjected to the manipulation of other (non-)human entities. These ideas can be overwhelming and confrontational, but when you zoom out, also liberating and painfully funny. They visualize these concepts into audiovisual performative realities, which are informed by human behavior within both manufactured and unavoidable patterns.

24.03.2025 – 04.04.2025

FADAT will create new material during their residency at C-Takt, starting from the linguistic concept of ‘prosody’. Prosody is the study of language from a musical perspective, it analyses language from musical elements: rhythm, dynamics, pitch, timbre etc. The two performers will make the absurdity of language palpable through a formal approach to text, partly through the use of repetition and distortion techniques.
