Two dancers invite you to look in a different way. At yourself, at the other, and at what arises between you. Close your eyes! Open them again. Closed. Open.

In this playful and surprising dance performance by tout petit – the Limburg dance company of choreographers Lies Cuyvers and Ciska Vanhoyland – with visual artist Ief Spincemaille, everything revolves around encounter. You look together, you move together, sometimes literally. Through a special pair of glasses, you see the world just a little differently. Your gaze is guided, twisted, or opened. And suddenly you see something that wasn’t there just moments before. Dancing and playing with perspective, a performance emerges that continues to surprise. Come watch, peek, and let yourself be amazed!

Mystica is a ritual that gives voice to eight mystical women who lived between the eighth and sixteenth centuries. The surviving texts of Hildegard von Bingen, Mirabai, Teresa of Avila, and Sun Bu’er, among others, have been rewritten into modern poetry and woven into a contemporary polyphony. With floating hair hangers and choir singers seeking connection together as a community learning to speak a shared language anew. What do the words of these female spirits awaken in us today?

Mystica is a performance where circus and music theatre meet. Hair hangers and choir singers build a spiritual microcosm together in which everything proves to be interconnected. A powerful visual performance in which togetherness takes center stage.

Last year, the performance was voted one of the best shows of the season by the jury of the TheaterFestival and can now be seen on the stage of the main hall at CCHA, in collaboration with CC Muze, C-mine, and C-TAKT+.

A mass of white ceramic balls overwhelms two acrobatic performers. They are far from perfect: not quite round, not all uneven, and also far too many. They roll around drumming, jump in all directions, suddenly bubble up in a mouth, or stick irrevocably to the ceiling.

iRRooTTaai is an invitation not to keep all the balls in the air. It is an ode to the ‘drop’. Because sometimes falling is full of new possibilities. Failure is allowed. The rules change too. Because who knows, playing life might just become much more fun if we can let it slip through our fingers every now and then.

With the audience all around, two performers arrange a musical circus composition where the balls fly around your shins.

One day, the murmur crept
like wildfire through the slumbering city.
Solnistad is buzzing with rumors…

Norma told the news to Germain.
Germain to Gigi.
Gigi to the singing hairdresser
who came to eat at the restaurant that evening.
The hairdresser to his customers.
The customers to their neighbors.
And the neighbors telephoned their mothers.

And?
Have you heard?
She is coming to our city!
Ah, who?

Is she still alive?
Absolutely!
Miraculous!
A mystery!

The dogs in the street jump up
At so much sudden activity.
Look at them, they think.
The people,
What strange animals they are!

The rumor of a world-famous diva’s arrival brings excitement to the sleepy village of Solnistad. While the residents are swept along by the increasingly loud murmur, the street dogs watch from a distance. With humorous commentary, the dogs recount how the whispered suspicions and fabrications get out of hand and turn the village upside down.

Brace yourself, straighten your head, clear your throat. Because it’s time. Time for a festive revolution, time for FEST!

FEST is not an ordinary concert, but a fantastic musical party! Three musicians throw all the rules overboard and let themselves be guided by the children in the audience. Together they make music, noise, rhythm and fun.

You hear singing, percussion and surprising sounds, with influences from Congo, rumba, electronics, hip hop and rap. Everything is allowed, everything is possible. The audience participates and builds a new world together with the artists: free, wild and full of energy.

Because before you know it you are all dancing and shouting “Poncho” at the top of your lungs.

FEST feels like a joyful revolution for children. A party that you not only hear, but also feel. Brace yourself and participate!

Our solo

Don’t be fooled by the title: Our Solo is anything but a solo. With Gustav Mahler’s ‘Das Lied der Erde’ as a guiding thread, choreographer and dancer Claire Croizé, violinist Aisha Orazbayeva, and lighting designer Hans Meijer seek connection with each other and with nature.

The texts accompanying Mahler’s work have been transformed into poppy lyrics and set to music by Aisha in a mix of styles. Claire and Aisha push the boundaries of their respective media and draw inspiration from each other’s presence. Together, they venture into unknown and vulnerable territory as they share song and dance.

Hans Meijer frames and reframes the scene via a mobile light installation that he moves throughout the piece, acting as a third protagonist on stage. In this way, ‘Our solo’ becomes an encounter in which the artists, both on and off stage, share their loneliness with each other and the audience.
