hEAR DROPS – Rule the Ruler

An action you might perform every day can still inspire you to make music. You can create many different sounds from a simple object such as a ruler. If you keep repeating one sound, you already have a musical sequence. Try to play this repetition in such a way till your surroundings spontaneously start playing along.

Artlink: “It is in the nature of people to want to exchange ideas with each other. And I believe that, basically, every artist wants nothing more than to tell his fellow people what he has in mind. With all expressions of art, whether it is music, literature or visual arts, it is first and foremost a matter of: communicating to the outside world and make sensory perceptible a personal thought, a striking idea or an inner emotion.” (R.C. Escher)

hEAR DROPS promotes collaboration between children and teachers based on shared criteria. The principle is simple: watch an episode together, discuss what you’ve seen and heard, watch again, interpret the rules of the game, discuss context and materials, perform together, evaluate together.
